Gas Fireplace Repair in Arleta, With the Readings Written Down

Describe what you see and who will read the report. We phone back to set a time and say what the write-up will cover.
What the Visit and Report Cover
Instead of swapping parts until something works, we read the pilot circuit with a meter, check the flame, test the switch wiring and inspect the valve, and write each reading next to what a healthy part shows. The rating plate's make, model and serial number are recorded so the right part is ordered. After the repair we leak-test the fittings and take a CO reading.
Diagnosis You Can Check
Most gas fireplace failures come down to a small set of parts: the thermocouple or thermopile that proves the pilot is lit, the gas valve, the ignition module on electronic units, and the switch or remote that tells the valve to open. Swapping parts until something works is the expensive way to fix one. We test instead. A thermocouple is read with a meter, and a weak one shows a low number. A thermopile is read open circuit and under load. We check the pilot flame for size and color, and test the switch wiring for continuity. Each reading goes on the service sheet next to what a healthy part should show, so you can see why we are replacing the part we name.
The sheet also records the make, model and serial number from the unit's rating plate, which is usually behind the lower grille. That plate decides which parts fit. Valley homes have a wide mix of units, from 1980s builder-grade fireplaces to newer direct-vent models put in during remodels, and parts for older units are sometimes discontinued. When that happens, the sheet says so and lists what can be done, whether that is a listed replacement valve kit or retiring the unit in favor of an insert.
Safety Checks Before We Hand It Back
After any gas repair we check the fittings we touched for leaks, run the unit through several cycles, and take a carbon monoxide reading in the room with it running. Those results go on the sheet with the date. If the unit vents through a wall, we look at the outside vent cap too, since a blocked termination can cause the same symptoms as a failing part: a pilot that goes out, a flame that lifts or turns yellow, or a unit that shuts itself off after a few minutes.
Repairs are quoted in writing once we know which part failed, and common parts like thermocouples, thermopiles and pilot assemblies are often on the truck, so many repairs finish in one visit. If a valve or control board has to be ordered, the quote gives the part number and the expected wait. A unit with a gas smell, soot on the glass, or a CO reading above normal stays off until it is fixed. That is written on the sheet in plain words so no one in the house has to guess.

Gas Fireplace Repair on Our City Routes
Each city page adds the local house types and weather that show up in our reports there.
CA
Gas Fireplace Repair in Burbank
Many Burbank houses still have the fireplace they were built with, and a report on one of them is often the first anyone has written. We start with the basics, liner type, damper condition and cap, and write each finding so a first-time owner can follow it without a glossary.

Gas Fireplace Repair in Sherman Oaks
Sherman Oaks reports split cleanly in two. Houses on the flats tend to show masonry wear and older dampers, while the hillside homes often have factory-built fireplaces behind stone faces, and the report has to name the make and model before any repair can be priced.

Gas Fireplace Repair in Studio City
A lot of our Studio City work arrives with a home sale attached, so the Level 2 report has to be clear enough for a buyer, a seller and two agents to read on a phone. Older homes on the flats often carry chimneys patched after 1994, and the camera shows whether those patches still hold.

Gas Fireplace Repair in Encino
Encino homes often have more than one fireplace on separate flues, so a single report covers several systems. We number each fireplace and flue at the top of the report and keep its photos and ratings together, which makes it easy to approve work on one without mixing it up with another.

Gas Fireplace Repair in Woodland Hills
Our Woodland Hills reports keep returning to the same three findings: clay tile liners with joints opened by the 1994 Northridge earthquake, crowns cracked on the hillside homes that face the sun, and rusted cap mesh. Each one gets a photo, a location and a plain rating, so you can see where your house sits against that pattern.

Gas Fireplace Repair in Canoga Park
Canoga Park houses are mostly single-story, which lets us reach the chimney from the roof on nearly every visit and photograph the crown and cap directly. Reports here often find original dampers rusted in place and clay tile liners that have never been camera-checked.
