Fireplace Cleaning in Arleta That Leaves a Note Behind

What the Visit and Report Cover
We clear ash and soot from the firebox, clean glass doors and screens, and wipe the hearth and face, working under drop cloths with a HEPA vacuum. A clean firebox is the best moment to spot hairline cracks and missing mortar, so we photograph the walls and damper and note what we see on one page. This is the room side only. A flue cleaning is a chimney sweep.
The Firebox Is Where Problems Show First
A fireplace cleaning is mostly about the room side: the firebox, the glass doors, the screen, the hearth and the face around the opening. Because we are already looking closely at the firebox, we also photograph the refractory panels or firebrick, the back wall where heat hits hardest, and the damper plate. A cleaning that ends with a clean firebox and no notes misses the moment when cracks are easiest to see, which is right after the soot comes off. Hairline cracks in the back panel, mortar missing between firebricks and a damper that will not close flat all show up clearly on a freshly cleaned surface. We note them on a single page, each with a photo and one of three labels: fine, watch it, or fix before the next fire.
In Valley homes with factory-built fireplaces, the firebox is a set of refractory panels inside a metal box, and the panels are made for that unit. A cracked panel is not cosmetic: the manufacturer's instructions usually say to stop using the fireplace until it is replaced. The page we leave says which kind of firebox you have, masonry or factory-built, and if we can read the label, the make and model, so a replacement panel can be ordered without a second visit.
Cleaning Versus Sweeping: Which One You Need
A fireplace cleaning does not clean the flue. If you burn wood, the flue is where creosote builds up and where chimney fires start, and that is a chimney sweep, priced from $215. We say this up front because the two get mixed up on the phone. If you mostly want the glass and the box presentable before guests arrive, a cleaning is the right call. If you burned more than a handful of fires last season, book the sweep, which includes the firebox and gives you before and after photos of the flue too. Either way the visit runs with drop cloths, a sealed opening and a HEPA vacuum, and we leave the hearth wiped down.
For gas fireplaces with glass fronts, the cleaning covers the inside of the glass, which builds up a white film, and the logs and burner if the unit is safe to open. Gas units have their own service, listed separately, because the burner, pilot and venting need a different set of checks. If you are not sure which you have, send a photo of the fireplace with the doors open and we will tell you what to book.

Fireplace Cleaning on Our City Routes
Each city page adds the local house types and weather that show up in our reports there.
CA
Fireplace Cleaning in Burbank
Many Burbank houses still have the fireplace they were built with, and a report on one of them is often the first anyone has written. We start with the basics, liner type, damper condition and cap, and write each finding so a first-time owner can follow it without a glossary.

Fireplace Cleaning in Sherman Oaks
Sherman Oaks reports split cleanly in two. Houses on the flats tend to show masonry wear and older dampers, while the hillside homes often have factory-built fireplaces behind stone faces, and the report has to name the make and model before any repair can be priced.

Fireplace Cleaning in Studio City
A lot of our Studio City work arrives with a home sale attached, so the Level 2 report has to be clear enough for a buyer, a seller and two agents to read on a phone. Older homes on the flats often carry chimneys patched after 1994, and the camera shows whether those patches still hold.

Fireplace Cleaning in Encino
Encino homes often have more than one fireplace on separate flues, so a single report covers several systems. We number each fireplace and flue at the top of the report and keep its photos and ratings together, which makes it easy to approve work on one without mixing it up with another.

Fireplace Cleaning in Woodland Hills
Our Woodland Hills reports keep returning to the same three findings: clay tile liners with joints opened by the 1994 Northridge earthquake, crowns cracked on the hillside homes that face the sun, and rusted cap mesh. Each one gets a photo, a location and a plain rating, so you can see where your house sits against that pattern.

Fireplace Cleaning in Canoga Park
Canoga Park houses are mostly single-story, which lets us reach the chimney from the roof on nearly every visit and photograph the crown and cap directly. Reports here often find original dampers rusted in place and clay tile liners that have never been camera-checked.

Chimney Sweep
Brushed, vacuumed and photographed before and after, so the condition sheet shows what came out of your flue and what is left.
Learn More →Chimney Inspection
Scope stated on page one, then every finding photographed and rated, so anyone reading the report later knows what was checked.
Learn More →Chimney Repair
Each quote line matches a numbered inspection finding, so you approve repairs one at a time with the photo in front of you.
Learn More →Fireplace Inspection
Masonry or factory-built is named first, then firebox, damper, smoke chamber, hearth and mantel clearance are measured and photographed.
Learn More →Fireplace Repair
Repairs priced from the photos in your report, with listed parts for factory-built units and refractory mortar for masonry fireboxes.
Learn More →Chimney Level 2 Inspection
Video of the full flue run, stills tagged by height, and a one-page summary an agent can open on a phone.
Learn More →Chimney Cap Installation
Measured to the flue tile, fitted with spark arrestor mesh, then photographed from the roof so the fit and fasteners are on record.
Learn More →Chimney Flashing Repair
Traced from the attic and the roof first, so the report names the real source of the leak before any flashing is pulled.
Learn More →Chimney Masonry Repair
Mortar loss gauged on each face of the stack, earthquake cracks mapped apart from weather wear, and a written repointing plan.
Learn More →Chimney Rebuilds
Recommended only when photos show failed masonry, then scoped in a separate assessment with lean measurements and a sketch.
Learn More →Gas Fireplace Cleaning
Glass film, burner ports, logs, pilot and outdoor vent cap serviced, with a carbon monoxide reading written on the sheet.
Learn More →Gas Fireplace Repair
Meter readings for the thermocouple, thermopile, valve and switch go on the sheet, so the failed part is shown before it is replaced.
Learn More →Fireplace Remodel
Inspection comes first, so the remodel scope lists clearances, repairs hidden behind the old face, and the new materials line by line.
Learn More →Fireplace Inserts
Firebox measured front and back, flue inspected for a liner, then an insert chosen that fits both, with install photos kept on file.
Learn More →Pellet Stove Repair
Translated error codes, tested motors and switches, a cleaned vent, and a service sheet naming the failed part.
Learn More →Wood Stove Repair
Paper-tested door seal, firebrick, baffle, glass and stovepipe photographed, and clearances to walls measured against the label.
Learn More →Gas Logs
Firebox and flue checked first, then a vented set sized to the box and the room, with the clamp and valve photographed at install.
